Quality
Every cowhide rug we sell is a high quality cowhide. Our cow hide products come from Brazil which produces the finest quality cow hides in the world. The more supple Brazilian cowhides are best for natural cow hide rugs. However you may still use the Brazilian cowhide for designer patchwork. You can be assured the quality of our cow hide area rugs is unsurpassed.
How thick are these cowhides?
There is no standard thickness for these cowhides. Again, because they are natural products there is some variation in thickness. To compare with other things, they are thicker than garment leather (like a leather jacket) but thinner than Harness leather (like used for horse harness or making saddles).
There are a number of uses for these cowhides. The cowhides work well for upholstery, throws and rugs. As rugs they typically do not need any sort of underlining. For belts and garments they need to be backed as unbacked belts will stretch too much and they may be too thick for most garments.
